DIY Front Entry Organization

It's no secret that we've been working on our front entry makeover for quite some time now... remember the whole One Room Challenge thing? Anyway, we're slowly making headway on actually getting this space in shape, and adding some storage was a much-needed step. Front entry organization is so key with kids, and since we don't have a closet here, we'll take what we can get!Kreg Tools are among my very favourite things to build with because you can do so much with their tools. I've used the pocket hole jig before to make our kids a train/lego table, but this time I also got to use a shelf pin jig, and I'm obsessed! Building this shelf was super easy and I can see a version of this being built for so many areas of our home. I'm thinking closet organization is next! The full plans are on BuildSomething.com, and you can get exact measurements, cut lists, and all of the details of how this guy came to be, but here's a peek at what those plans look like:Easy peasy, right? And here's how we're using it in the entry, to organize all of our things that were hard to find a place for, like hats, keys, sunglasses, my purse, and all the little things the kids occasionally need.As far as what I used to organize within the shelves, I shopped my house for a few things, like a small basket with handles, so it's easy to move in and out of the shelf, two small woven bowls for smaller things, a plant (because a plant is always a good idea), a paper bag where we can store things like our second sets of car keys, and a small vintage sugar bowl, because my husband takes off his ring and watch as soon as he gets in the house and it's a safe place for him to drop those things. Now, since this is part of our Modern Handmade Home series, there are 3 more projects you can see that also use a Kreg Shelf Pin Jig!Go check out these ladies!Harlow & Thistle: craft storageLove Create Celebrate: wall-mounted coat rackLemon Thistle: thread organization
